Accident closes Maidstone Road, Chatham, at the Bridgewood Manor roundabout, off the A229 Blue Bell Hill

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash.

Officers closed Rochester Road, at the top of Maidstone Road, in Chatham, by the Bridgewood Manor roundabout, just off the A229 Blue Bell Hill following the crash at around 5.15pm on Wednesday (January 3).

A black Yamaha motorbike, travelling towards Blue Bell Hill, was in a collision with a blue Ford Fiesta travelling in the opposite direction near the junction with Laker Road.

Police confirmed the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s from Aylesford, was declared dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Maidstone Road was closed in both directions between the roundabout and Lankester Parker Road.

A message from the local PCSO advised residents to avoid the area due to a “serious road traffic incident”.

Police left at around 12.30am on Thursday (January 4).
