This weekend will see a high street closed to traffic for the third weekend in a row and the designated diversion route will also be blocked.
As part of the Strood Town Centre Regeneration Project, the paving blocks on the one way high street are being replaced by tarmac.
Over the past two weeks drivers who want to go through Strood have been diverted to the Wainscott Bypass.
But this weekend there are road works just off the bypass on the A289, which is a designated diversion route for heavy goods vehicles.
The entire length of A289 is to be closed from M2 Junction 1 to the junction on the A226 on Gravesend Road.
This includes the slip road leading to the A289.
Kent County Council contractors are performing carriageway improvement works.
The closure is in place from Monday to Friday from 8pm to 6am, from Wednesday, May 22 to Saturday, June 8.
In Strood the High Street is being closed from 8pm on Friday to 5.30am on Monday for 10 weekends starting from Friday, May 10.
Medway Council hopes the works will improve the reliability of journey times through the town.
However, the road closures have been causing long delays for drivers and this weekend, queues could be longer than ever.
As on Friday night it will coincide with the Wainscott Bypass road closures.
This means all diverted traffic will be forced to travel through Strood using Rede Court Road, and Brompton Farm Road to get to the A2.
Strood High Street will be open during the Dickens festival on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2.
