Cannabis factory in Grosvenor Avenue, Chatham, goes up in smoke

A house saved earlier today by firefighters was being used to grow cannabis, police have confirmed.

Fire crews were called to Grosvenor Avenue in Chatham shortly before 9am after flames and smoke were seen billowing from the roof of a semi-detached home.

Police were also called to the blaze and it was later confirmed that firefighters had found cannabis at the scene.

A statement from police said: "A cannabis cultivation is reported to have been uncovered inside the property and officers are conducting ongoing enquires into the matter.

At present no arrests have been made."

No injuries were reported.
