A spokesman from Medway fire station said it looked like the taxi had gone into the side of the car, but it was unclear who was at fault.

He also said there were no injuries.

Kelly Longman and her husband, Roy, rushed to the scene after hearing the crash.

Mrs Longman said: "Me and my hubby heard the the smash so we went to have a look and it was a taxi and a Peugeot. I was told by my local shop that the Peugeot turned in at the last moment."

She added: "The mum and the child in the Peugeot are ok and so is the taxi driver."
