A car fire closed a busy road in Medway today.

The blaze on one of the hottest days of the year so far happened on the eastbound side of the A289 at The Strand at around noon.

Officers assisted Kent Fire and Rescue Service in managing traffic while the incident was dealt with. The road was temporarily closed and reopened at 12.35pm.

One fire engine was called to the scene.
