Investigations are continuing after a new mum was stabbed on her doorstep when she told yobs to be quiet.

Donna Cross was assaulted outside her home in Southill Road, Chatham, when she shouted at a group of youths to ‘shut up and go away’.

The 33-year-old, who has an eight-week-old baby, was treated at King College Hospital in London.

Police are treating the attack as GBH and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Detectives are attempting to trace a small silver hatchback car, possibly a Ford Focus or Peugeot 206 seen in the area at around the time of the incident, which happened at 8.45pm on Tuesday, March 22.

Miss Cross’s partner Jon Stone said the attack should be treated as attempted murder.

He added: “The wound was just above her heart. Donna lost two and a half pints of blood. I thought she was going to die.”

A police spokesman said: “Police are treating the incident as GBH and have launched a thorough investigation.

“Officers have conducted house to house inquiries, speaking with neighbours and potential witnesses.

“Police have kept the victim updated as the investigation progressed and remain keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or be able to identify the suspects.

“We do not underestimate the impact that incidents of this nature have on the community and remain committed to arresting those involved.”
