Car fire drama on M2

Motorists faced delays on the M2 earlier today, Friday, after a car burst into flames near the Cuxton turn-off.

Firefighters, police and the Highways Agency were called out to the slip road at Strood on the London-bound carriageway at about 11.20am.

The driver of the car had managed to pull over to on the hard shoulder and police diverted traffic around the burning car.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "The car was well alight and police managed a rolling-road operation.

"The fire was out by 11.45am and the police left the scene a short time later when the car was recovered."
