A car has smashed through a residential care home but the driver and residents made a lucky escape from serious injury.
A blue Peugeot collided into one of the windows at Hawthorn Manor Residential Care Home in Gillingham this evening.
A picture showed the car halfway into the building with bricks fallen around it and the home's curtains partially covering the vehicle.
The care home manager told KentOnline that residents, staff and the driver are safe despite the scare.
He added that emergency services were at the scene in Maidstone Road, Wigmore but did not comment further on the incident.
The crash caused shock among residents as people reacted with concern for residents living at Hawthorn Manor.
The incident happened by the mini-roundabout where the care home is located at the junction with Woodside by the Shell garage, Wigmore Veterinary Centre and the Queen's Head pub.
One person said: "Hope people are safe and no one’s injured. What a shock."
Another commented: "I just drove down Maidstone Road and there is a huge amount of emergency response there. I hope everyone is okay and there are no serious injuries."
Police and the fire and ambulance services have been contacted for comment.
