Car wedged upside down blocks Blenheim Avenue, Chatham

At least four cars are thought to have been damaged in a crash that has left a road blocked by an upside down Vauxhall.

The accident happened at about 5pm in Blenheim Avenue in Chatham, when a blue Corsa collided with several parked cars before coming to rest on its roof.

The driver is reported to have crawled from the wreckage, and suffered minor injuries in the crash.

An ambulance crew treated him at the scene.

Police are still at the scene of the smash, and officers are awaiting a recovery vehicle to move the wrecked vehicle.

An eyewitness, who did not wish to named, said: "I heard an almighty bang and rushed outside. It was like a bomb going off. It was horrific.

"Lots of people in this street have children and grandchildren. It only takes 30 seconds for a child to open a door and be out in the street."

An ambulance and a resonder car were called to the scene along with police

People living in the street submitted a petition to Medway council this time last year, asking for speed bumps to be installed.

The crash has prompted residents to redouble their efforts to reduce speed down Blenheim Avenue.
