Parts of central Rochester, including its cathedral have been left in the dark and have no power after an outage earlier this morning.
Staff at the cathedral who went into work this morning were left the dark after a fault in the electricity network resulted in a power cut at about 8am.
In total, 24 businesses in the High Street and the Precinct area, including the historic place of workshop, are without electricity as engineers try and fix the problem.
A spokesman for UK Power Networks, said: “Following a fault on a piece of our equipment, 24 customers in the High Street and Precinct areas of Rochester would have experienced a power cut at 8am this morning.
“UK Power Networks engineers are on site working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
