Gillingham’s Karate Leadership Academy
is to become part of Kent Shotokan Karate.

Instructor Mark Bailey had been
looking for a new style for his club and opted for Shotokan – which
was developed as a means of self-defence and combines the arts of
kihon, kata and kumite.

Kent Shotokan Karate was started by
sensei Glen Wright, 6th dan, in Lordswood in 1974 and has grown to
encompass almost 1,000 students of all ages at clubs across the
South East.

Karate Leadership Academy will change
its name to Kent Shotokan Karate and its 80 students will be taught
in the new style.
