One half of the cockney duo Chas n Dave will be continuing a Christmas gig tradition at the Tap n Tin.

Chas Hodges will be honouring what is rapidly becoming an annual pre-Christmas tradition by returning to play at the Chatham venue on Thursday

Dave Peacock, retired from the music business earlier this year following the death of his wife Sue but Chas and his band have been continuing to fulfil all outstanding Chas and Dave engagements and have vowed to continue touring in their own right.

The three-piece band are Chas on lead vocals and piano, Micky Burt on drums and Darren Juniper on bass guitar.

On Thursday, they will be playing all the Chas and Dave hits, including Rabbit, Gertcha, Sideboard Song, Margate, London Girls, Snooker Loopy, Ain’t No Pleasing You, along with some tracks from Chas’ new solo album which has just been released.

The show also features Chas’ tribute to rock n roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis, with songs and stories from the days when Chas both toured and recorded with him.

The night will feature support from the Trouser Trumpets, a 10-piece comedy band, who mix vintage jazz with classic rock, and local Chatham favourites Tyrannosaurus Alan who will be bringing their fun, upbeat vibe to kick off the gig with a bang. Fusing punk, ska and rap, the band has supported the likes of Voodoo Glow Skulls, Jaya The Cat, Sonic Boom Six, Billy No Mates, The Beat, Neville Staples, The Skints, Mouthwash and toured with Wonk Unit.

John Terry, who owns the Tap n Tin in Railway Street, said: “Chas and Dave have played at the Tap n Tin every Christmas for the last three years and its always a sell-out, everyone has a great time.

“We always knew there was a chance Chas and Dave would split up but Chas is at the heart of the band and I’m sure it’s going to be just as fun this time around as it always is.

“With support from the Trouser Trumpets and Tyrannosaurus Alan, it is very much a night for all ages.”
