Chatham boss Alex O’Brien lamented another disappointing night in a campaign of frustration as his side played out a stalemate against Eastbourne on Tuesday night.
The Chats were frustrated by the East Sussex side at Maidstone Road in front of just 94 supporters on a miserable night – although the draw did bring an end to a four-game losing streak.
Victory could have secured their Ryman League Division 1 South status with five games remaining As it is, they lie 16th – 11 points off the top-10 which has been O’Brien’s target for the past two months.
Town created several chances but could not turn their dominance into goals, with the final insult coming inside the final minute when Jordan Kiffin missed an open goal.
O’Brien said: "I was pleased with the clean sheet but not with the number of chances we missed.
"I counted 11 good chances we created and missed and then Jordan missed an open goal with 30 seconds left.
"There was so much more we could have done – it was another frustrating night. It has been a very, very frustrating season."
Chats’ run-in could not be more mixed. They face basement-boys Walton Casuals at Maidstone Road on Saturday before a trip to title-chasing Folkestone Invicta on Monday.
They finish off a disappointing campaign with games against another title challenger, Croydon, play-off chasing Walton & Hersham and Ashford.
