Chatham face their longest journey of the season this weekend when they head into Norfolk for a clash with Wroxham.

The Chats have a 280-mile round-trip ahead of them on Saturday, with boss Kevin Watson and his players leaving Medway at 10.30am.

Watson (pictured) recently repeated his calls for Chatham to be moved out of Ryman League, Division 1 North next season. This weekend’s trip underlines his irritation, with Wroxham almost twice as far from Chatham as any club in Division 1 South.

Watson said: "It’s ridiculous we have to travel that far. We’re in this league and I’ve been beating that drum for a while. This case is an example in itself.

"You have to take into consideration the cost of coaches. Not only that, players aren’t getting sufficient money to warrant being gone for that period of time. You’re asking people to turn up to training on a Wednesday and then you have a game on Saturday when you’re gone for the whole day."

Wroxham, immediately below Chatham in the table, drew 1-1 at Soham on Tuesday night.

The Chats were without a midweek game and that break has allowed midfielder Matt Solly to rest and regain full fitness for the trip. However, defender Kes Metitri will be unavailable.
