Kevin Watson wants his players to prove they should be at Chatham next season.
The Maidstone Road player/ manager, coming to the end of his first full campaign in charge, is looking for a big improvement when his side aim for their third win of the season over Ryman League Division 1 North strugglers Ilford tomorrow (Saturday).
Watson (pictured) was unhappy with the performance in the 1-0 defeat at Cheshunt last week, saying: "We need to get it right because last week was embarrassing as regards our work-rate and desire and I start to question one or two players.
"I still want to finish as high as possible this season and the players are playing for their places.
"They have done me proud for much of this season but I felt let down and they let themselves down."
Watson admitted he voiced a few ‘home truths’ in the dressing room after the game.
He said: "It’s never personal, I only judge on what I see and feel but knew I was right.
"If anybody thinks that was good enough last week, then they are in the wrong place."
Chatham won 1-0 at Ilford in the league in September and followed up with a 4-1 win against the Essex club in the Alan Boon Cup a month later.
Watson added: "We have got to be confident going into the game but not complacent."
