Garry Tilley calls time on his long Chatham career this weekend.

The winger retires after tomorrow’s (Saturday) game at Waltham Forest, having joined the club as a 15-year-old during the 1995-96 season.

Tilley, who helped the Chats win the Kent League in 2000-01, suffered three leg breaks in four years.

After a long lay-off, he re-signed as a Chats player in 2011. Manager Kevin Watson paid tribute to the departing midfielder.

He said: "I don’t think many players at any level contribute as much to a club as he has.

"That’s not just his performances on the pitch, it’s his commitment to the club. He’s had several injuries and still come back to a good level. Over the last two seasons, he’s been an important player for us.

"It’s not the case that physically he can’t play. It’s more to do with time spent on other areas of his life."

The Chats travel to Waltham Forest looking to avenge the 4-2 home defeat they suffered in November.
