Firefighters have been dealing with a chemical spill in a treatment room at Medway Maritime Hospital.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus and gas-tight protection suits were sent into the building at 5.09pm.
A fire Service spokesman said no one was injured, but confirmed a member of staff has been checked over by paramedics as a precaution.
“Crews have successfully removed and safely disposed of the substance, believed to be formalin,” he said.
“The incident area is being ventilated and air-quality monitoring checks are being carried out.”
Crews left the scene just before 8pm.
