A town centre pharmacy whose shop was repossessed is set to reopen elsewhere - telling customers “desperate” for their medication to see their doctors in the meantime.
Jhoots Pharmacy, in Rainham Shopping Centre, has been closed since Friday (April 19) after a possession notice was spotted outside.
It read: “Under the terms and conditions of your rental agreement or lease, we as acting agents and with the authority of your landlord have entered these demised premises and have served notice and have taken possession.
“No unauthorised persons are permitted entry into these premises and any attempt to do so will result in criminal proceedings being instigated against you.”
A handwritten sign was also placed in the window of Jhoots, which opened in the former Lloyds Pharmacy, saying it would be open today (April 22).
However, patients wanting to collect their prescriptions have turned up this morning to find the branch still shut and another notice stuck on the door informing them it will be opening in a new location.
It says the pharmacy will be opening in the former Boots unit nearby which is smaller and closed down last month along with its small chemist counter.
The sign added: “If you are desperate for your meds please see your doctor. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
At the time, it was understood that Jhoots would be moving into the store, however, no plans have been revealed until now.
One customer who went to the store this morning to collect their medication, said: "There are so many people here expecting it to be open.
“I spoke to the staff who said they are starting to move everything today but do not expect to be trading until the end of the week."
The precinct's nearest pharmacy is currently at Tesco, in Rainham Mark, which customers have reported is extremely busy as a result.
Jhoots Pharmacy has been contacted for further information.
