A wheelchair-bound pervert who raped a young girl and subjected her to further sex abuse has had his sentence reduced.
Andrew Patterson, of Trevale Road, Rochester, was last Friday given an extended sentence - 13 years in jail and a further five years on licence.
But the judge who sentenced him has now altered the sentence to 12 years imprisonment with a further six years on licence.
He will have to serve eight years behind bars before he can be considered for parole. The 37-year-old, who suffers from a degenerative spinal condition, admitted three offences of rape and two of sexual assault.
He also admitted making indecent photos of children and one of distributing indecent photos of a child between March 5 and March 27.
The images were of children being abused at all levels of seriousness.
Patterson sat in his wheelchair in the dock at Maidstone Crown Court as Judge Adele Williams told him: “I have no doubt you pose a significant risk of causing serious harm to children by the commission of further offences, and it is, therefore, necessary to impose an extended sentence of imprisonment.”
His name will appear on the sex offenders’ register and a sexual harm prevention order was made, both indefinitely.
He will be barred from working with children and vulnerable adults.
