Police and firefighters were called to Elmwood Road around 9.50pm after receiving a report from a member of the public.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: "We were called out to make sure there was no fire still burning and to assess the environmental impact.

"It isn’t the most sensible thing for kids to be doing. I am sure it looked very good and it was quite fun, but it could go wrong and a child could get burnt.

"It is a concern that we have a volatile, flammable liquid being poured down a drain."
