Sick children in hospital will be unwrapping presents today thanks to the generosity and festive spirit of a group of school children.

Little Holly Dawson of St Mary's Island School, and fellow school council representative Jessica Pay visited Medway Maritime Hospital’s Dolphin Ward taking 47 presents which had been donated by their school friends.

They were kept secret and given out today.

Fiona Park and Jayne Shillito from the school took the girls to the hospital to meet play leader, Auntie Annie, and hand over the gifts earlier this month.

Holly, nine, said: “We both went up in assembly and told the school about our plan and that we needed 30 presents, but in the last few days of our project we got a lot more.”
