A fish and chip shop has had to close after a fire in its extractor system this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to Borstal Fish Bar in Borstal Street at about 2:10pm, not long before it was due to open.

They spent an hour and a half at the scene putting out the blaze.

No one was injured.

The shop is expected to remain closed for some time due to the damage caused.
