Chatham manager Alex O’Brien admitted he was worried by his team’s form after Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Chipstead, the club's fourth Ryman League Division 1 South loss in five games.

O'Brien's men also failed to score for the third match running and the Chats boss said: "Apart from one very good chance and two half-chances we didn’t create anything. Myself and Lew (Watts) have told the players not to crawl under rocks and hide in games.

"I think one or two players are not realising or believing how good they are, and the only way they will get that confidence is to start winning football matches. We have to work hard, sing off the same piece of paper and all pull together."

Chipstead completed the double over Chatham and the goal came when Sean Rivers converted Anthony Morrison’s cross on the hour.

O’Brien (pictured) added: "We said at half-time that one goal was probably going to win, because both teams had huffed and puffed, and it wasn’t a fantastic spectacle.

"Somebody was going to get a 1-0 win and sadly for us it was them."

Scorer Rivers saw his early free-kick saved by Dean Ruddy, while Chipstead keeper James Wastell kept out Richard Avery’s header.
