Co-op opens new store in Hever Road, West Kingsdown

Food retailer Co-op has launched a new and improved store in a Kent village, after closing another branch just metres away.

The West Kingsdown branch has relocated to a larger, purpose-built building in Hever Road.

Co-op announced it would be closing its current branch, which is just a couple of doors down, yesterday (August 17).

The new store is nearly 50% bigger – covering almost 3,000 sq ft.

It has supported 21 local jobs, with additional positions created.

There will be a free ATM, bakery, hot food and a Costa Coffee dispenser. Amazon parcel collections will also be included, and an improved range of products.

Everyday essentials, food-to-go, Fairtrade products, flowers, chilled beers, ready meals and pizzas are available, as well as free-from, vegan and plant-based items.

Store manager, Tom Cox said: “It is very exciting to be launching Co-op’s newest store.

“Our aim is to always operate at the heart of local life and we are really looking forward to welcoming members and customers into their new and improved store.

“We have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve our community, conveniently.

“With a focus on delivering member-value so that the people who own our business, our members, benefit every time they shop.”

The new store will be open from 6am to 10pm daily.
