Thousands of passengers who use a busy railway station every day will soon be able to grab a cuppa before boarding their train.
Italian coffee company Puccino’s is due to open its first Kent kiosk in Rochester, next to the ticket office, on Monday (February 24).
The station had been without a snack and drinks bar for around 19 months when the previous occupants Beezoo pulled out suddenly.
Instead, commuters have had to buy their refreshments in the High Street on their way to work.
Puccino’s is part of the Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group - the fifth biggest coffee company in the world - and sources its coffee beans from Costa Rica, Brazil and India.
It also sells a range of other drinks as well as wraps, salads and sandwiches.
It has branches at railway stations throughout the Home Counties, London and in Cork, southern Ireland.
Family-run business Beezoo left Rochester in August 2023 at the same time its outlets at Maidstone East and Bromley South closed.
At the time notices were posted outside saying: “These premises have been seized on the authority of the landlord.”
A member of staff told KentOnline that they had been affected by the constant run of rail strikes where stations were closed for days at a time.
The £26 million station in Corporation Street opened in 2015 relocating from a now-defunct station in the High Street.
It has links to several mainline London terminals and has a high-speed service to London St Pancras International.
