Top stand-up comics Kate Smurthwaite and Tiffany Stevenson will come to the Billabong Comedy Club in Rochester on Thursday.
This month’s show is the last of the Edinburgh Fringe Preview shows to be held at the club in Victoria Street, and with the festival due to take place next month the acts should be finely tuned.
Smurthwaite’s show Smurthwaite on Masculinity sees the comedian, campaigner and writer size up patriarchy and 21st-century male culture.
Known for appearances on TV shows such as Have I Got News for You and radio phone-ins, her style has been praised by critics as “sharp, quickfire, intelligent comedy”.
Stevenson’s show Seven deals with all things related to the number between six and eight – seven deadly sins, lucky number seven, the seven ages of man, wonders and samurai.
As seen on Mock The Week, People Just Do Nothing and Stand Up Central, Stevenson is also the UK correspondent on The Weekly for ABC Australia.
Her show has been praised as “heartfelt, important and provocative from one of the best in the business”.
There is a licensed bar and music on the night will come from The Parkas, with original songs and covers of hits by The Jam, Oasis and 1960s artists.
Doors open at 7.30pm, with the comedy starting at 8pm.
Ticket prices: £9 in advance or with a flyer or £12 on the door. Students with a valid student card can buy tickets for £5.
Groups of six or more people booking in advance can claim one free ticket.
