The council leader has paid tribute to MP’s work as a councillor after she resigned from her post to focus on ministerial duties.
The Conservative Rochester and Strood MP announced her resignation as Rochester West councillor on Friday, January 12.
Cllr Alan Jarrett said: “I would like to take this opportunity to personally congratulate Kelly Tolhurst on her recent appointment to the Government's Whip's Office.
“Whilst I regret that Kelly will no longer be able to continue in her role as a member of Medway Council, I understand and appreciate the difficult decision she has had to make.
“Throughout her time as a Medway Councillor, Kelly's passion for Medway and the people she represents has always been clear and I would like to thank Kelly for the exceptional work she has carried out.”
“I know Kelly will continue to fight Medway's corner through her role in the Government, and I wish her every success for the future.”
