A vehicle suspected of being involved in fly-tipping incidents has been seized by officers from Medway Council.

The truck, was seized by officers from the environmental enforcement team on Sunday, July 2, after a tip-off.

The vehicle was taken from an address in Chatham but Medway Council is refusing to disclose what street or even what area it was seized from.

The officers used their powers under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to take the vehicle.

A man has been interviewed by enforcement officers in connection with the seizure, and the authority says investigations are ongoing.

Cllr Jane Chitty, head of enforcement at Medway Council, said: “Fly-tipping is unsightly and costs the council thousands of pounds each year to clear.

“I would encourage residents to report incidents so the council can arrange to get the waste cleared as quickly as possible.

"They also investigate each incident and will prosecute anyone found to be dumping waste in Medway.”
