A couple who have been together for 60 years are due to celebrate modestly after their plans were scuppered by the coronavirus outbreak.

Antony and Patricia Moss were due to enjoy a meal with their family to toast their Diamond wedding anniversary, but instead a home-cooked meal at their Rochester home will have to suffice.

The couple met at the Victor Sylvester Dance Studio in Star Hill, which later became an Odeon cinema before being converted into flats.

They married at St Nicolas Church in Strood on April 2, aged 19 and 20.

Patricia, now 81, was a housewife who raised the couple's two children, Toni and Sara-Jane, with Antony, who is 79.

Toni said: "We were supposed to be having a large family meal out. We will definitely be doing that afterwards.

"My mum hasn't been out at all and my dad does a little bit of shopping. They have a dog which he walks once a day.

"Although the celebrations have been put on hold for now, everyone is looking forward to a reunion in the future to toast their special day.

"It will be as many people as we can put together. My mum is just cooking a normal meal.

"They are doing well even though they can't celebrate with their family."

One of the couple's favourite pastimes is enjoy boating together on the River Medway.

Together they have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
