People who were queuing at 7.20am to get their hands on tickets to see Brit Award nominee Craig David at Rochester Castle, did the right thing as tickets have now sold out.
The 7 Days singer is headlining this year’s Rochester Castle Concert series and will be performing in the castle gardens, on Thursday, July 13.
The gig is part of his long-awaited UK tour, which kicked off earlier this month in Cardiff.
The tickets went on sale at 10am but by about 10.30am they had all gone.
Sixteen years after his debut album Born To Do It reached number one, Craig’s back at the top with his latest album, Following My Intuition, which flew straight to the number one spot in the official chart when it was released last year.
With a fan base spanning decades, tickets for this open air gig are expected to sell out quickly.
Craig’s music looks set to spark euphoric nostalgia in older fans who have long-awaited his return to the stage.
During the gig at Rochester, fans can expect all the classics and hits from his latest album.
Craig said: “I’m really looking forward to playing at Rochester Castle.
“There’s always something special about playing outside in the English summer.”
In September, Craig appeared on kmfm’s breakfast show with Garry and Emma ahead of his new album, talking about touring, his brand new music, and what it’s like to be back.
He had his first wave of success in his teens after featuring on Re-Rewind with Artful Dodger in 1999.
A solo career followed, with 20 UK top 40 singles, and five UK top 20 albums, selling more than 13.5 million records worldwide.
Head of events at Medway Council, Cllr Howard Doe, said: “This show is going to be a real treat for fans.
“The small and unique venue creates a wonderful atmosphere, quite an exclusive feel as only a lucky few get their hands on tickets, compared to larger arenas like the O2.
“I know we always say it, but those who want tickets need to be quick in order to avoid disappointment.”
Tickets cost £39.50, went on sale at 10am, but have now all gone.
Also performing in the series is eighties band, Wet, Wet, Wet and tickets for the gig, on Wednesday, July 12 went on sale yesterday at a cost of £39.50.
