Firefighters needed to wear breathing apparatus as they tackled a blaze that broke out in kitchen tonight.
They were called to a two-storey property in Broadway, Gillingham, at around 6.50pm.
Two fire engines were sent to the scene and it took crews almost 40 minutes to bring the ground floor blaze under control.
There are no reports of any injuries and the cause is not yet known.
A positive pressure ventilation fan was then used to clear smoke and fumes from the property.
