Crime figures to be displayed on police vans

November’s Medway crime statistics have been printed on the back of police vans.

Officers introduced the system in October by putting stickers on the back of their vans.

There are now four police vans which have stickers highlighting different aspects of crime rates in Medway.

One says “Medway has seen a reduction in all crime this year of 19.3 per cent”.

Sgt Tony Dyer said: “We wanted to get some important messages across to residents who may not know the reality of crime in Medway.

“This is an impactive and cost effective way we can relate to motorists and residents who see our vans in their area.

“The messages will be updated once a month so the most relevant information is shown.”

This month’s messages are:

Medway’s neighbourhood task teams will be focusing on Gillingham North this month.

Medway has seen a reduction in all crime this year of 19.2 per cent.

Medway has seen a reduction in violent crime this year of 14.6 per cent.

Medway officers have attended 783, 999 calls this month
