Crime in Medway is continuing to fall, according to figures just released by police.

Statistics for the period of September - December 2009 compared with the same period in 2008, reveal that overall crime in the Towns is down by 18.4 per cent, which is almost 1000 fewer offences.

Burglary in homes has dropped by 44 crimes, which equates to 17.3 per cent and there have also been significant reductions in car crime, with 141 crimes less crimes (23.3 per cent) during the period.

Incidents of criminal damage have also fallen by 448 crimes, which is a 34.4 per cent drop.

Medway has also seen 17 less robberies, a 25 per cent drop.

Sex offences have risen by 18 crimes in the quarter and by 23 crimes in the rolling year.

Police say this is attributed to the increase in the number of women arrested for soliciting for prostitution, as part of their recent launch of the Safe Exit project.
