It's officially here. The build up to Christmas got under way in Medway this weekend with lights being turned on to mark the start of the festive season.
After coronavirus restrictions put dampers on celebrations last year, crowds were keen to come together and make this year's festivities extra special, with people flocking to switch-on events in Strood on Friday afternoon and Chatham on Saturday.
Hundreds turned out to watch the lights being switched on and enjoy entertainment including music and dance performances - while there were special guest appearances from Christmas characters The Gruffalo, at Strood, and the Snowman in Chatham.
Other attendees included the Mayor of Medway Cllr Jan Aldous, while kmfm presenters Garry Wilson and Rob Wills were also on hand - as was, of course, Father Christmas.
