Crucial spell ahead for for Gills

ANDY HESSENTHALER'S Gillingham entertain Wolves on Saturday and Watford on Tuesday night in a crucial four-day period for the club.

Darren Byfield is out for both games after requiring 16 stitches in his leg after a freak collision with an advertising board at West Ham.

New signing John Robinson is also out after injuring his hamstring in the warm-up at Upton Park, while Patrick Agyemang (hamstring), Nicky Southall (thigh), Paul Smith (groin), Alan Pouton (knee) and John Hills (knee) will also be missing.

Hessenthaler said: “We're going to have a very young side out and an inexperienced bench.

“But if we’re going to turn our season around, then it has to start with these two games. I’d like six points but we need at least four. We’ll be up and at them and in their faces right from the start.”

Tommy Johnson should be involved in the squad for the Wolves match after playing for the reserves against Southend on Wednesday, while 18-year-old Matt Bodkin will also be called up.
