One of Britain’s biggest cult bands will be making a racket in Rochester next week.
UK indie legends The Cribs are coming to the Royal Function Rooms on Tuesday to kick off a series of summer shows by playing a one off intimate warm-up gig.
The band, famous for their hits including Men’s Needs and You’re Gonna Lose Us, have been confirmed by local music label The Preservation Society Presents.
They will be performing on England’s second oldest stage in front of a maximum of 200 people this Tuesday, before setting off for their remaining three UK festival shows at Tennent’s Vital in Belfast on August 21 and then Reading Festival and Leeds Festival on August 25 and 26.
Originally a three-piece band from Yorkshire featuring twins Gary and Ryan Jarman and their younger brother Ross, the group expanded in 2008 after making rock and roll guitar hero Johnny Marr, formerly of The Smiths, a permanent member.
A year later they released their fourth studio album, Ignore The Ignorant, before taking a three-year break from recording any new material.
During this period Marr announced his departure from the band, but has since returned to play one off shows.
Earlier this year The Cribs came back with a new album, In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull, stating the current state of the music charts had given them a reason to return.
The boys claimed their latest album offered an alternative to the commercial "pop hell" dominating the industry.
Other acts announced by the Preservation Society for later in the year include Steve Craddock, guitarist from Ocean Colour Scene and Paul Weller’s band (September), Britpop band Dodgy (October) and drum and bass legend Ronnie Size (November).
