The moment a dad-of-two kicked in the front door of his former partner’s home was caught on her doorbell camera as she “confronted” him through the device.
Ciaran Healey turned up at the house in Chatham and inflicted the damage despite his ex shouting at him to stop via her Ring camera.
The 39-year-old had earlier been spotted loitering outside her home in Symons Avenue.
But just after 9pm on June 8, he booted the door, causing more than £1,000 damage to the lock and frame, before going inside.
A court also heard in a separate incident on September 21 that Healy, who was sleeping rough in the centre of town under a bush, threatened and abused a police officer.
Healey, now of Castle Road, Chatham, admitted criminal damage and threatening behaviour when he appeared before magistrates in Medway on October 10.
Debbie Jones, prosecuting, said: “He was in a relationship with the woman for four or five years and they separated a year ago and have two children.
“She saw he was loitering outside her home on her Ring doorbell footage, once at 2pm and then later at 9pm.
“She was not home but at 9.05pm she was alerted by the Ring doorbell and could see he was kicking it open and he damaged the locking mechanism which belongs to mhs homes and the cost is £1,300 to replace the lock and repair the frame.
“She confronted him through the Ring doorbell camera and told him to leave but he refused so she called the police and then he left.”
Healey was located nearby and admitted to officers at the scene he’d kicked the door but when he was interviewed over the matter, he made no comment.
Ms Jones also told the court the woman had made a victim impact statement in which she said his actions had an effect on her mental health and had given her anxiety and that she had not seen him since and that she had done her best to avoid him up until that point.
She also said in the statement that Healey rarely saw his children and didn’t make any financial contributions towards their upkeep.
The court heard she was still waiting for her new door to be fitted as she wanted a new more secure one as the incident had made her feel vulnerable.
Magistrates also heard in a separate incident in September Healey was spotted by police in Military Road, Chatham, sleeping under a bush.
When an officer went up to see if he was alright, Healey started shouting and swearing at him.
The prosecutor added: “He swore at the officer and shouted at him asking why he woke him up like that.
“The officer told him to calm down, but he continued to swear and was told to move on, but he then raised his fists in a manner to fight the officer and he was then arrested.”
The court also heard Healey had a problem with alcohol and had not long moved into a new home in a shared housing property.
He had been homeless at the time he committed the offences but had now signed up with substance abuse help charity Turning Point to address his problems.
The bench was told he had been drunk when he fell asleep in the flower bed in Chatham and when he kicked the door the lock had come off and that he had now fixed it back to the way it was.
Magistrates placed Healey on a two-year conditional discharge for the criminal damage offence and also made him pay £200 compensation to mhs homes for the damage caused to the door.
He was also given a one-year conditional discharge for the threatening behaviour incident with the police and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £26 as well as £85 court costs.
