A hat-trick by new recruit Daniel Calitri was the highlight as Invicta Dynamos beat Milton Keynes Thunder 7-1 to claim their first ENIHL South 1 win of the season.
Calitri, pictured, was making his home debut and was joined on the scoresheet by Adam Copland, Karl Lennon, Andy Smith and Callum Fowler as Mos prepared for this weekend’s trip to play-off champions Bracknell in impressive fashion.
The hosts opened the scoring after just 13 seconds when, from the blue line, defenceman Copland beat netminder Mark Woolf, although they had to wait until the final three minutes of the first period to double their lead when Lennon drove home off the post.
Moments later Calitri got his first and Mos’ third from close range and 3-0 became four with six minutes of the second quarter remaining courtesy of Calitri’s second, a tap-in after Liam Chong’s shot was saved.
Andy Smith scored the fifth at the far post after more good work by Chong before Calitri completed his hat-trick ahead of the break with a low shot from between the face-off circles.
Ross Bowers scored a consolation for the Thunder but Invicta, through Fowler’s backhand shot, had the final say three minutes from the buzzer.
