Detectives investigating a serious sex attack at a town centre car park think people's dashcam footage could be “crucial” to their investigation.
It comes after a woman was allegedly assaulted between 1am and 3am on Sunday, in Corporation Street, Rochester, between the junctions of Blue Boar Lane and Northgate.
Police are asking anyone who was driving in the area, which is close to the car wash and opposite the railway station, to check any footage they have between 12.50am and 1.10am.
Detective Inspector Lee Neiles said: “We are seeking the assistance of the public to help us piece together events leading up to and following this incident.
“We specifically want motorists with dashcam – including taxi drivers and bus drivers – who were passing Rochester railway station in either direction to send us their footage. You could be crucial to our success in solving this case."
Footage should be submitted to the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) here.
A 21-year-old man from the town who was arrested on Monday in connection with the incident has been bailed to return to the police station, pending further inquiries.
Officers are continuing to urge anyone with other information which may assist the investigation, to call Kent Police on 01634 792209, quoting reference 46/200907/23.
