A drug dealer arrested in Gillingham after concealing crack cocaine in his body has been jailed for five years.
Oluwafeyikemi Ige tried to hide two packages wrapped in cling film, when police attended a property in Upper Britton Place, in June this year.
Officers had executed a search warrant at the address when they located Ige in one of the bedrooms.
The 24-year-old was arrested after drugs paraphernalia, including uncapped needles and a tube of cling film were found close by.
Ige was suspected to be concealing drugs in his body and strip searched at a police station. He was put under constant supervision in a cell and eventually admitted to police their suspicions were correct.
Officers later retrieved two packages, which contained around three grams of crack cocaine.
During an investigation linked to Kent Police’s Operation Jupiter team, mobile phones found in Ige’s possession were also examined and text messages provided further evidence of dealing.
Appearing at Maidstone Crown Court, Ige, of no fixed address, denied a charge of possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply, but following a trial was found guilty by a jury.
Yesterday he appeared at the same court for sentencing, in a hearing which also took into account a separate case where he had pleaded guilty to counts of possessing cocaine, MDMA and cannabis.
Ige was jailed for five years for all the offences.
DI Kevin Downard said: "At the time of his arrest Ige had been on bail for other drug offences and he has clearly shown a complete disregard for the law.
The suffering and devastation dealers such as Ige cause to individuals, their families and to local communities is often far reaching.
"Thankfully, the courts have passed a significant and substantial sentence, which reflects the seriousness and impact of this crime.
"I’m pleased we have been able to now remove a dangerous and prolific offender from our streets."
