A dealer who fled officers when they stopped him in the street was found to have heroin and crack cocaine hidden in his underwear.

Gillingham man Rahuf Karimi pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.

The 28-year-old was sentenced to three years and four months’ imprisonment.

The court heard how Karimi, of Canterbury Street, was recognised by police at around 11pm on October 3 walking towards Pagett Street in the town.

They knew he had been previously linked to county lines networks in Medway.

As they pulled over to speak to him he made off but was subsequently detained and arrested in nearby Saxon Street.

Following a search, a mobile phone and £114 in cash was seized.

Karimi then admitted to wearing two pairs of trousers and having drugs concealed in his underwear.

He was found to be in possession of 35 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine with a street value of up to £700.

The mobile phone also contained text messages advertising class A drugs.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Mark Donovan said: "Karimi was known to us and when patrols saw him acting suspiciously they were able to act quickly and bring him in.

"Within a month he has been jailed, this demonstrates how we are committed to proactively remove drug dealers from the streets of Medway.

"We will continue with this a robust approach and will tirelessly target those who think they can operate drug dealing networks across our county."
