One of the youngsters accused of the manslaughter of a 42-year-old man has been granted bail until his trial.
Victim Dale Simmons plunged 90ft to his death during an incident in Chalk Pit Hill, Chatham, on April 14.
His body wasn't discovered until the following morning.
Maidstone Crown Court heard how Mr Simmons had hurdled a number of garden fences after allegedly being chased by a group – one of whom was reportedly wielding a machete.
Tyrese Scott, 18, of Rochester Street, Chatham, a 17-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys were later arrested.
They are expected to enter pleas to manslaughter at the next hearing on May 16.
One of the 16-year-olds – who can't be named for legal reasons – was granted bail by Judge Philip Statman following a successful application by defence counsel Alan Kent QC.
The judge said that following Mr Simmons' death feelings in the area "are running high".
A bail application on behalf of Scott was refused but the judge told lawyers they could make a further application next month.
A number of tributes were later posted in honour of Mr Simmons.
