Motorists were held up on the M2 after an overturned van blocked the carriageway.

The incident happened on the London-bound carriageway just before J3 for Chatham and Rochester at about midday.

One of the three lanes was blocked but all traffic was released shortly after 1pm.

Highways officers were at the scene where the silver Mercedes van had tipped on to its side with its windscreen smashed.

A rolling road block was implemented behind the crash.

It has not been confirmed whether anyone has been injured.

Traffic was temporarily held at 2.50pm for recovery to take place but at just after 3pm, Kent Highways said: "The carriageway has been cleared and vehicle recovered. All lanes are now open. Delays are beginning to clear."
