Medway's main regeneration projects have ground to a halt, council chiefs have confirmed.

Chatham's bus station will now have to be partly funded by council taxpayers because it cannot be completed by the government's deadline of March 31.

The prime development site at Rochester Riverside will be started by a housing association.

It follows the sacking of Medway's development partners, Crest Nicholson.

The council's regeneration partner, St Modwen's, no longer features in any development proposals.

A proposed move for Rochester station to a modern, and more central, location has stalled. Network Rail will need "lots of persuasion" to drive the project forward, according to council regeneration staff.

Strood's Civic Centre site is becoming a car park because no developers are interested.
