People in Rainham are being invited to shine a spotlight on the town's green heroes.
Nominations are now open for the Rainham Eco Hub Community Awards 2021.
Everyone is welcome to nominate one or more local individuals and groups from within the ME8 area in one of seven categories.
The awards are: Guardians of Green Spaces - from tiny patches of garden to parks and everything in-between, Biodiversity Champions, Eco Engagement - teaching others about what they know, helping us to understand, Evolving Eco Award - for those on the very first steps of their eco journey, Grassroots Award, Community Project of the Year, Litter Picking Heroes.
Nominees will be treated to a an awards evening on September 25, where the winners will be announced and presented by The High Sheriff of Kent.
Organisers Liz O’Hanlon and Kayleigh Ward said: "At such a crucial time in the fight against climate change and nature destruction we all need to pull together and do all we can to protect our precious planet. To think global but act local.
"Rainham is a hot spot of environmental activism and we want to celebrate local people who are doing all the can to make our town greener and more sustainable."
Nominees will be notified at the end of August and the inners will be decided by a panel of independent experts.
