Police dog saves man with life-threatening injuries

A police dog who sniffed out a man suffering a "mental health crisis" with life-threatening injuries, has been praised for saving his life.

Police have just revealed how PD Fallon, an 18-month-old German Shepherd, picked up the man's scent after a call warning that the man was in "serious danger" in Medway after suffering an injury.

Guided by her handler PC Scott James, the duo raced through grassland before cutting their way through dense woodland to reach the man.

They had been informed the distressed man had sustained an injury before running into the overgrowth.

The pair found the man with a number of injuries which were described as "life-threatening".

As paramedics raced to the scene, urgent first aid was applied by police to prevent heavy blood loss.

He was then taken to hospital by treatment by ambulance crews. The incident took place on April 17.
