A paraplegic driver who was out in his car with his young son, somehow lost control of his vehicle and ended up in a ditch by the side of the A228 Grain Road.
The man who has not been named, was driving his specially-adapted car along the road between the Stoke and Grain level crossings, when it somehow ended up in the dry dyke beside the busy road.
The accident happened at about 2.20pm on Tuesday, August 4, and because of his disability, firefighters had to help him out of his car.
A passerby saw the crash and alerted the emergency services.
A crew from Strood fire station was called to assist the man.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The car had ended up in the ditch and luckily there was no water in it.
“As the man was disabled he couldn’t get out of the car on his own.
“His son, who was about 12, and himself were OK, he just couldn’t get out.
“We used one of our small ladders to get our firefighters down in the ditch and then they lifted him out and put him back in his wheelchair.”
