Driver injured after van hits bridge in Chatham

A van driver suffered face injuries after his vehicle hit a bridge in Chatham.

Firefighters were called to Claremont Way at about 3.40pm on Tuesday after the van became stuck in an underpass.

A crew from Medway fire station had to winch the van out of its position while paramedics treated the driver at the scene.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We just made sure the scene was safe.

"The driver, who was probably about 30, seemed fine when we left the incident with the police."

The crew spent about 35 minutes at the scene.
