Police called out to Borstal Street, Rochester, after car crashes into bollards

The driver of a car which crashed into bollards outside a vicarage in a village in Rochester - allegedly made off from the scene.

Police were called out to Borstal Street at about 8.30pm last night after the smash which destroyed several bollards outside St Matthew’s Vicarage, in the road.

Officers say the driver of the car did not stop at the scene and the collision resulted in an oil spillage on the road.

Highways officials were called out to help clear up the spillage and move some of the damaged bollards.

At least two bollards have been ripped out of the ground and three others are bent over.

It is not known if the driver was injured during the incident, but is thought a white truck may have been involved.

Police say they received a report of the crash and will be investigating the incident.
