A woman who suffered a serious heart attack while driving home has been reunited with the stranger who saved her life.
Suzie Burton appealed through the Medway Messenger to track down the man who came to her aid when she was forced to pull over in agony.
The elderly man, who came out of the Castle Club in the Esplanade, spotted she was in trouble, calmed her down and got her home.
Her condition deteriorated and she was taken by ambulance to hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.
An angiogram revealed she had a 90% blocked artery and she was told she was lucky to be alive.
Suzie never got a chance to thank the man, so she contacted the paper in a bid to find him.
He later turned up at her flat in Borstal.
Suzie, a full-time carer, said: “My knight in shining armour paid me a visit with a stunning bunch of flowers and wonderful note.
"In his wonderful unassuming way he said 'just popped by to say hello'.
"The biggest thank you goes to my hero... without him I might not be here today" - Suzie Burton
“I think we are both still rather shocked. But the hug I gave him came from the bottom of my fragile yet beating heart.”
Suzie’s modest hero, a retired man from Gravesend, has asked to remain anonymous.
The 56-year-old, who has never suffered with heart problems, fell ill while shopping at Tesco in Strood on Monday October 22.
Not only did the man get her home but he drover her partner Keith Finch back to pick up her car.
Suzie, a mum-of-one who lives in Sunderland Close, added: “Thank you to everyone for my hundreds of well wishes.
"And the biggest thank you goes to my hero.
"Without him I might not be here today.”
